Team Info

The Minnesota Men's Club hockey team plays in the Division II league of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, or the ACHA.  Typically, tryouts are held in mid-September, and the season runs from early October thru the end of February.  The National Championship tournament is typically held the first weekend in March.  Everyone who is a full-time student at the University of Minnesota is welcome to tryout with the team.  Home games are played at Mariucci Arena (pictured right) on campus, and road trips can be as far the lower and eastern Midwest, including Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kentucky, and Indiana.  We are also a member of the Western Collegiate Club Hockey Association, with St. Thomas, Minnesota State-Mankato, St. Cloud State, St. Olaf, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Michigan Tech.  Typically, we play about 25 games, but may expand our schedule as the year goes on.

Recruiting

The Minnesota Men's Club Hockey Team is a competitive team at the ACHA Division II level.  We do play strong Division I teams each year, along with other D-II teams.  At the beginning of each year (mid-late September) we hold tryouts at Mariucci Arena.  We do not recruit players or guarantee spots for incoming freshman or transfers; if you perform the best in tryouts then a deserving spot awaits you here on the Club.  For any questions regarding the team or tryouts, email Josh Weiner at wein0263@umn.edu.

All home games are played at Mariucci Arena or Ridder Arena (pictured below), located on the U of M campus.  Mariucci is home to the University's NCAA Division I men's hockey team, as well as intramural sports and university classes.  Capacity is roughly 10,000 people.  Ridder Arena is home to the University's NCAA Division I Women's Hockey team, with a capacity of about 3,500.  Mariucci is an Olympic Sheet; Ridder is regulation NHL size.  Both facilities are located on campus, mere blocks away from hotels and restaurants.  Downtown Minneapolis is a close 5 minute drive from the Arenas.

Directions:

·    From I-94: Exit off of Huron Blvd (only goes to the north)  You'll immediately be on Huron.  Follow straight through three stoplights. On the fourth, follow the road as it curves through the light and becomes 4th Street SE.  Mariucci is on the next block, the corner of 4th Street and Oak Street.

·    From 35W: Exit University Ave (a one way road on campus running east) and follow until Oak Street (east edge of campus).  Turn left (north) onto Oak.  the very next block is Oak and fourth Street, the NW corner being Mariucci Arena.

Parking:

·    On the south side of 4th street on the southwest corner of Mariucci, there is a small pay lot that may or may not have an attendant.

·    On 5th street along the north side of Mariucci, there is another small pay lot that may or may not have an attendant.

·    When entering 4th Street from Huron, on the right side of the road there is an entrance to the "Wolverine Lot", which is directly east of Mariucci.  This is also a pay lot.
